Defendant settles for $4,500,000 after spinal surgery due to car accident.

A Suffolk County police officer had just responded to an obstruction in the roadway when a truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and rammed Mr. Scala’s police cruiser.  Spinal surgery resulted.  Lead counsel, Mike Della noted “We were prepared and were looking forward to a trial to compensate Mr. Scala, but once the insurance company saw just how equipped we were, they made every effort to avoid trial.”  Defense counsel could not be reached for comment.
